Community & Small Grants
Susan G. Komen® Upstate New York is the local source for funding breast cancer detection, support and educational awareness in Upstate New York. Through its community grants, Komen funds education, diagnosis, treatment and support programs provided by local organizations that serve uninsured or underinsured residents in our service area.
- There were approximately 4,872 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in our service area last year. Thousands of people in our communities today are living with breast cancer. The funds Komen grants to community programs in our service areas have made a positive difference in the lives of those living with this deadly disease.
During the 2018-19 grant cycle, Komen Upstate NY funded the following programs:

Onondaga County Health Department – “Breast Cancer Outreach, Education, and Screening to At-Risk Populations”, Central NY Region
St. Mary’s Healthcare – “Addressing Barriers to Breast Cancer Screening and Treatment”, Northeastern NY Region
The Fund for Women – “FFW Barriers to Care”, Twin Tiers Region
The Guthrie Clinic – “Breast Care: Life-Saving Assistance Program”, Twin Tiers Region
The Upstate Hospital Foundation – “She Matters – Increasing Screening Mammography in Underserved Women”, Central NY Region
To Life – “Bridging the Gap – Accessing Care and Support Services ”, Northeastern NY region
University at Buffalo Research Foundation’s –“Engaging Patients in Breast Health
through Patient Ambassadors, Mobile Mammography, and Education”, Western NY Region
