bubly to offer local sampling of nation-wide, limited-edition cans that support work of Susan G. Komen at 14 Walmart stores across Upstate New York on October 11, 2019

Buffalo, NY (October 9, 2019) –  Fourteen Walmart stores across Upstate New York will provide samples of grapefruit flavored bubly in support of a nationwide partnership between Susan G. Komen® and bubly sparkling water called ‘scan your cans.’ At each of the fourteen locations where sampling will occur, volunteers, many of whom are breast cancer survivors with the Upstate New York Komen Affiliate, will also be available to speak with consumers on the importance of breast health and early detection.

“Friday’s sampling event allows our national partnership to also have an impact in the fight against breast cancer throughout Upstate New York,” said Chow Downey, regional sales manager with Pepsi Co., the parent company of the bubly product line. “We are proud to support the work of Susan G. Komen® on all levels, with a nationwide impact, and also right here in the communities where our friends and neighbors live and work.”

Sampling and breast health education will take place from 12pm – 3pm at the following Walmart locations:

Latham (Colonie)                    Saratoga Springs

Niagara Falls                           Lockport                                       Hamburg

Vestal                                      Big Flats                                       Watkins Glen

Brockport                                Batavia                                    Macedon

Camillus                                  Fulton                                           Cicero

It is estimated that 16,300 men and women in New York State will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019.  Breast cancer stage is the most important factor relating to prognosis – the earlier the stage at the time of the diagnosis, the better the prognosis.

“We are grateful to be part of this unique opportunity,” remarked Andrea Moran, senior director of communications for Komen Upstate New York. “We have survivors and volunteers who know firsthand that early detection and screening can mean the difference between life and death. They are beyond excited to support bubly’s ‘scan your cans’ campaign as part of this interactive and meaningful event at Walmart stores across our service area!”

Throughout the month of October, the limited-edition grapefruit bubly x Susan G. Komen® pink cans will have a facebook AR experience to support breast cancer awareness in an innovative and impactful way. Consumers who scan their bubly can will have access to important resources around breast health. bubly is also supporting the fight against breast cancer by donating $100,000 to Susan G. Komen® as part of the partnership.

Susan G. Komen® believes all women should have access to regular screening mammograms when they and their health care providers decide it is best based on their personal risk of breast cancer. Women, and men, should make breast health and screening a regular topic of conversation with their physician. Resources for screening programs across Upstate New York can be found on the Affiliate’s website at

In alignment with Komen’s Bold Goal of reducing breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026, the Komen Upstate New York Affiliate partners with community-based programs aimed at addressing gaps in access to care, reducing barriers to diagnosis and treatment, and empowering survivors and loved ones to take action with policy makers on both state and federal levels in an effort to reduce the burdens of breast cancer for patients.
