Welcoming 2019!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your family!!

At Susan G. Komen Upstate New York we are so excited to be rolling into the New Year with enthusiasm for all that 2019 brings! We are in a world where change happens quickly, it happens often, and it happens all around us. And as we enter January, we are rolling up our sleeves to make sure we stay boldly united in positively impacting the lives of those living with breast cancer across our beloved communities.

We are rigorously focused on doing our part to fulfill Komen’s bold goal – reducing the number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. It takes building on a strong foundation – urgently becoming more than pink. It takes an endless yearning to do more – more for our communities, more for those living with breast cancer, including metastatic breast cancer, and more for research and action to find the cures.  It takes a team, and we’re ready – we hope you are too!

Over the next few weeks, I ask you to take a moment to revisit www.komenupstateny.org, to engage with us on social media @komenupstateny, and to reconnect with staff and board members in your local offices. As Komen Upstate New York, we continue to expand our family’s reach to communities large and small across the state, to streamline operations, and to learn from each other’s great strengths – we are stronger when we work together.

I truly look forward to keeping you up-to-date on new and exciting initiatives, such as

  • Premiering the MORE THAN PINK WalkTM in Buffalo and Syracuse this spring (keep a close eye on your email!!)
  • Introducing you to Komen’s new pillars of RESEARCH | CARE COMMUNITY | ACTION
  • And helping to foster a deeper connection to survivors, volunteers, grantees, sponsors and staff members – so many play an important role in #TeamKomen!!

I also look forward to celebrating activities with rich and vibrant histories, like our Twin Tiers Race for the Cure, our annual Survivor Luncheons, presenting our yearly grantee awards, celebrating our Pink Tie Guys, and meeting many of you personally during our education and awareness visits throughout the community.

Indeed, it is an exciting time to be with Komen Upstate New York – thank you being a trusted and tenacious partner in this fight!

On behalf of Komen Upstate New York, our board, and our staff team, we wish you a joyful New Year!
